Purpose of consultation

Council Officers have been engaging with business owners in order to encourage a significant reduction in the presence of commercial waste and containers on St Andrews town centre streets. This has been with a view to making St Andrews cleaner and safer and to improve the look of the town.  Unfortunately, we have been unable to achieve the desired results.

As a consequence, supported by requests from local Councillors and the Royal Burgh of St Andrews Community Council, Officers have been asked to look at developing a policy, which would limit the time that waste is presented for collection. The draft policy and affected area are available as publications

Before asking the Council to consider such a policy, views are being sought from all local stakeholders, together with those of the contractors who collect waste in St Andrews, about how the proposed policy may affect them.

Fife council may organise a drop-in event for St Andrews businesses, waste contractors and residents in August, subject to demand. If you are interested then please leave your email address on this consultation so that we can contact you.
