Fife Council’s planners are finalists in the Heritage and Culture category of the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) prestigious Awards for Planning Excellence 2019.

The RTPI Awards for Planning Excellence are the most established and respected awards in the UK planning industry. Running for over 40 years, they celebrate exceptional examples of planning and the contribution planners make to society.

Beating off stiff competition from a record number of entrants, the Council’s Anstruther, Cellardyke & Kilrenny: Archaeological Burgh Survey, already winner of the Scottish Government’s Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning 2018, will contest the top planning heritage prize with eight other finalists from across the UK.

This success comes on the back of the Council’s three previous archaeological awards in the Scottish Government’s Scottish Awards for Quality in Planning, as well as an award in the 2018 British Archaeological Awards.

Congratulating the Council’s planning team on its shortlisting, Convener of the Economy, Tourism, Strategic Planning & Transportation Committee Cllr Altany Craik said: "Dedication and professionalism are hallmarks of Fife Council’s Planning Service but it's outstanding to have this excellence recognised at a UK level.

"Quality and performance matter in the delivery of public services. This shortlisting, along with the Development Plan Team’s other recent heritage awards is testament to the really excellent work being done by the Council’s Development Plan Team.”

The winners will be announced at an award ceremony in London on 24th April 2019.
