This vocational course at Queen Anne Community Use will allow candidates to gain a basic level of competence in Paediatric First Aid skills.

There will be a Tutor-based competence assessment at the end of the course with a nationally-recognised certificate valid for 3 years.

At the end of the course candidates will have knowledge of the following:  



Bleeding and shock

Burns and scalds

Child related conditions (asthma, croup, anaphylactic shock etc.)

Epileptic fits


What should be in a comprehensive first aid box

This certificated course costs £75.00 per person and is approved for Individual Learning Account (ILA) funding (see below).

Through Skills Development Scotland, you may be eligible to apply for an Individual Learning Account giving you up to £200 to spend on learning or training. ILAs are for people who are 16 or over and living in Scotland.  You must have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or be on benefits to be eligible. If you are not in education, do not have a degree or above and are not taking part in a National Training Programme (Modern Apprenticeship, Get Ready for Work or Training for Work) you can apply for an ILA.  For more information or to request an application pack, please visit or call the helpline on 0808 100 1090.
