Dundee Uni II 1 - 2 Madras

Published: Tuesday 30 Oct 2012 by Madras FP's Ladies Hockey Club

It was getting very frustrating...we have been playing reasonably well, scoring goals yet not winning!!!

This week, we traveled to play Dundee Uni II who beat us 2 weeks ago in the league cup.  That had been a close game and could have gone either way so we knew we stood a chance.

Once again we started positively with all the pressure and Jade hitting the post in the first 10 minutes.  However, Dundee Uni took first blood with a break away goal.  I think we all started to think if this was a replay of 2 weeks ago.

The goal changed something in Madras and we started to really stick in and win the 50-50 balls.  A well worked move between Karen and Jade saw Jade get a more than deserved equaliser.

Half time 1-1

The second half started and Madras continued to perform well all over the pitch.  It was a much better team performance than 2 weeks ago and the hard work paid off when Marianne put Madras ahead.

Claire got a nasty bash on the finger (to put it nicely!) and had to be substituted with only 5 minutes left however Madras saw out the time to win the match.  Well done girls!

Our first win of the season and good timing too - it was Mandy's 40th birthday which we celebrated with a chocolate cake...courtesy of Jade.

We will be looking to add to this win when we travel to play Grove this weekend.
