At the meeting of the Area Committee, Council Officers presented a range of options about proposed amendments and enforcement of parking restrictions in the town.
The Community Council had considered the proposals previously and whilst we had no objections to some of them, we did have significant concerns about the proposals to reinforce parking times on Main Street.
These objections were sent to the Council during the consultation and some concessions were made. However, the new proposals were a mish mash of restrictions and no restrictions which the Community Council also objected.
our position was supported by over 200 people who signed a petition arranged by one of the local shop owners.
At the meeting Councilor Hood proposed a motion which echoed the Community Council's position. And whilst an amendment was proposed the original motion was carried.
Details of the motion and amendment and vote as available in the documents section .
