Cupar Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme

Fife Council, in partnership with Fife Historic Buildings Trust, is investing in the historic properties and streets of Cupar.  Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund are helping to fund the programme with awards totaling £1.5 million to establish a Cupar CARS /THI programme.

CARS is the acronym for a Conservation Area Regeneration Scheme with £1m awarded to Cupar by Historic Scotland.  THI stands for Townscape Heritage Initiative with £550,000 awarded by Heritage Lottery Fund for Cupar.

This significant level of grant support augments Fife Council’s commitment and together with spend by private owners will result in around £7 million being invested in Cupar’s historic fabric and regeneration.

The Cupar CARS/THI programme has a number of elements

  • Priority Building Projects
  • Small Grants Scheme
  • Cupar Streets and Closes
  • Training and Apprenticeships
  • Advice for property owners on energy efficiency in historic buildings
  • Bonnygate Gap Site Development
  • Information and Guidance for the Community

The programme is managed by Fife Historic Buildings Trust on behalf of Fife Council.  Contact Fiona Stenke on 01592 890060 or email for more information.
