Careers Early Years & Childcare
The Scottish Government is committed to increasing the Early Learning and Childcare core entitlement from 600 to 1140 hours per by the year 2020, this expansion will almost double entitlement to free early learning and childcare for all three and four year olds and eligible two year olds.
The overall objectives will be to:
- Maintain high quality early learning and childcare provision
- Provide more flexibility for parents who wish to work, train or study
Education and Children’s Service have developed an apprenticeship programme which will enable the council to train and develop our own workforce. This scheme will allow suitable candidates to gain valuable experience on the job and develop new skills along with gaining the essential qualification, an SVQ level 3, Social Services Children and Young People, which is required for entry into the positon of Early Years Officer.
This programme is open to everyone no matter your working background you already have, whether you have decided to change direction in your working life or have been away from working life for a while, this opportunity is open to all.
As part of the selection process within recruitment you will be expected to attend a group skills session where you will take part in various tasks to ensure your suitability to this career.
