Preparing to Recruit
This page contains links to guides and process maps which will take you through the various steps you need to follow before you advertise your vacancy. This includes the Establishment Process, alternatives to recruiting a direct replacement and how to gain TalentLink system access.

At this stage there are a number of things to consider:
- Establishment Process – a critical step to take when preparing to recruit is to check whether or not the post has previously been evaluated and whether it has an approved role profile. Click here for further information regarding Establishment Change and Job Evaluation procedures.
- Consider how to fill the post by referring to RS22 Preparing to Recruit Guide which you will find below.
- TalentLink Access – if you are using Talentlink for the first time you will need to secure approval to be added as a user, from your Line Manager. To secure this approval you must complete FC3621 IT - TalentLink National Recruitment Portal available for booking via CLMS.
- Selection Panel – as a Recruiting Manager you are responsible for selecting and establishing the panel. The First Contact Advertising a Vacancy request will ask you to confirm the interview date(s) so best to plan along with other panel members well in advance.
