Scottish Transport Appraisal Guidance - STAG

A transport appraisal using the STAG must be undertaken when seeking funding, support or approval from Scottish Government to change the transport system. These transport appraisal reports are usually called a STAG for short.

The STAG guidance means that all transport appraisals presented to government are consistent, objective led rather than solution led and follow best practice. The process includes 4 parts:

  • Pre-Appraisal
  • Part 1 Appraisal
  • Part 2 Appraisal
  • Post Appraisal

See the Transport Scotland website for more information on the STAG process.
