Home Fire Safety Check

Free Home Fire Safety Visit

Every year in Britain the fire service are called out to over 60,000 fires in the home, and every year around 500 people die in these fires and over 10,000 are injured. If a fire occurs in your home, your chances of survival will depend on how quickly and safely you are able to get out. A Community Fire Safety Officer will visit your home free of charge and offer advice on a variety of fire safety issues including:

  • Fire Safety Action Plan - advice on what to do if your smoke alarm is activated
  • Night time routines
  • Smoke detection
  • Kitchen safety
  • Bedroom safety
  • Electrical safety
  • Access to property
  • Smoking issues

Fife's Fire Service has made it easier to request a free Home Fire Safety Check by introducing an online request form which is available on this page.

Submit the online form, which is then sent to your nearest fire station where firefighters will arrange the home visit. Visits are arranged at your convenience and to suit the individual. A home fire safety check takes about 40 minutes and is absolutely free. 10 year smoke alarms are supplied and fitted free, if required.

Alternatively, you can contact your local Fire Service on Freephone 0808 100 3141 or Text the word FIRE to 61611.
