Brown Bin Collections – West Fife

Due to unplanned absence across West Fife we may be unable to empty some brown bins this week. If your brown bin should have been emptied last week we are doing our best to empty them today (23 September). However, the knock on effect means that there may be issues with this week’s collections.

Please put out your brown bin on your scheduled date. If it is not emptied, unfortunately we will be unable to return until the next collection in 2 weeks. While we understand this is an inconvenience we would appreciate your understanding, crews are doing their best to empty as many brown bins as possible this week, however we are unlikely to get to them all.

Excess waste can be taken to your local Recycling Centre (www.fifedirect.org.uk/recyclingcentres).

Fife Council apologises for the inconvenience caused.

We operate a four bin service service for the majority of our residents in Fife.

Special/bulky uplifts

We collect bulkier items of rubbish, which may not fit in your bin, from the kerbside. Book this service by calling our Recycling Helpline on 03451 55 00 22.

Recycling Points and Recycling Centres

We operate a network of facilities in your local area to make recycling even easier for you.  Visit our Recycling Points and Recycling Centres pages for more information.

Food waste bags

Find out how to recycle your food waste, how we provide food waste bags and how to buy food waste bags from Fife's Leisure Centres and ONFife libraries. Visit our food waste page.

Assisted collections

We can help if you are unable to put your bin out for collection and have no-one to help you. You may be able to get an assisted collection service if you are elderly or disabled. This is also known as 'take out and return'.

To request a 'take out and return' call the Recycling Helpline on 03451 55 00 22.

Advice for presentation of bins during high winds

Please help us during periods of high winds by only putting your bin out when necessary.

Household clinical waste collection

Some clinical waste needs separate disposal in an incinerator. Your GP or NHS practitioner will tell you this.

Contact NHS Fife to clarify if your medical waste needs treatment in this way.

Bin calendars

Fife Council will not be delivering bin calendars to all households in Fife. This saves Fife Council money and reduces our environmental impact. To find your bin collection dates you can:

  • Enter your postcode to check your next collection date and the bins being collected. Once you have selected your property, you can print it out.
  • Sign-up for email alerts by entering your postcode, selecting your property and entering your email address. Sign up to receive an email before a new bin calendar is available, or if your bin collection day changes.

Bin Collection Calendar

To find out which day your household waste and recycling bins are collected, please enter your postcode below.

We have changed what goes into your bins.. Visit our 4 bin page to find out more.

Not printing your bin calendar saves Fife Council money and reduces our environmental impact. If you do need a printed bin calendar then you can:

  • Print your bin calendar by entering your postcode above
  • Print a bin calendar at your local library. Library staff can assist customers to access and print off a copy of your bin calendar for a small charge.
