Planning policy and guidance
Development Plans set out a vision for how areas will change and describe where development will take place and where it will not. Planning applications we receive are assessed against land allocations and policies within the development plan.
The development plan for Fife consists of:
- FIFEplan,the Fife Local Development Plan
- SESplan and TAYplan Strategic Development Plans
- Supplementary Guidance associated with these plans.
These are informed at the national level by:

Review of the Planning System in Scotland
The Scottish Government is reviewing the planning sytem in Scotland. The Planning (Scotland) Bill was introduced to Parliament on 4 December. More information is available on the Scottish Government website.
