Planning policy and guidance
Development Plans set out a vision for how areas will change and describe where development will take place and where it will not. Planning applications we receive are assessed against land allocations and policies within the development plan. The development plan for Fife consists of FIFEplan, the SESplan and TAYplan Strategic Development Plans, and Supplementary Guidance associated with these plans.
There are four levels of planning in Scotland:
- The National Planning Framework for Scotland
- Strategic Development Plans
- Local Development Plans
- Supplementary Guidance
We've prepared a Development Plan Scheme which sets out the programme for preparing and reviewing the Fife’s development plans and what is likely to be involved at each stage. For further details about the Local Development Plan for Fife (FIFEplan) please view our Local Development Plan page.
